FIRE PREVENTION BUREAU ACTIVITIES


The Fire Prevention Bureau is responsible for providing inspection service to the community of Shelby Township. These services include
pre-construction site plan reviews, construction final inspections, existing commercial building inspections, automatic fire sprinkler plan
reviews and testing, and fire alarm plan review and testing. The Bureau attempts to review and return all fire plans to each developer in a
reasonable amount of time. Existing commercial buildings and businesses have become accustomed to seeing the Bureau staff in the role
of fire safety inspectors and consultants.

The Bureau also conducts investigations into all fires which occur within the Township. Determining the origin and cause of a fire plays a
prime role in preventing future incidents. Bureau personnel remain "on-call" 24 hours a day to respond to fire incidents.

The Fire Prevention Bureau strives to continue to make Shelby Township a safe place for all.
